Color differences between screen and print.

A little clarification on colors to get you started...

We're talking about a color space. It's a digital representation of colors in a colorimetric system or in a color synthesis process. Each color can therefore be characterized by a point in a three-dimensional space.

The problem is that color spaces are not the same from one screen to another, or from one printer to another. That's why we use spectrophotometers to calibrate our screens and printers.

The colors on a computer screen are light colors, usually synthesized from red, green and blue, which naturally leads to the use of the RGB (abbreviation for red, green, blue), while the majority of printers use the CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow and black inks), which is a smaller color space than RGB. This change of color space can create slight color differences (less saturation, for example).

It's also important to bear in mind that a computer screen, phone or tablet produces light, whereas on a print, it's the ambient light that will be reflected. reflect on the paper. Contrast, whites and blacks can then be different from the screen for printing.

That's why at Kedl, we pay particular attention to every image that passes through our printers, to give you the most faithful rendering possible.
